The research group focuses on studying musculoskeletal problems to improve orthopedic treatment outcomes, concentrating on traumatic injuries, bone septic diseases, and pathologies of the knee, hip, hand, shoulder and foot and ankle. In 2024, we have strengthened ties with prestigious institutions like McMaster University (Canada), while also starting new clinical trials with Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland (USA). Two grants were awarded, one from Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for a trial on minimally displaced femoral neck fractures and another from Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for a trial evaluating infection prophylaxis treatments in total joint replacement. Two doctoral thesis were defended in 2024, and nine are in progress. Researchers actively contributed to national and international congresses and orthopedic consensus initiatives, including leading a book publication from the World Expert Meeting in Arthroplasty 2024.
