World Environment Day: The impact of drought and high temperatures on health
Place: Hospital Vall d'Hebron
Date: 06/05/2024
Brief: The drought and high temperatures, which are increasingly recorded for longer months of the year, caused 2,155 more deaths than expected in the country last summer. On the occasion of World Environment Day, Vall d'Hebron launched a communication campaign to raise awareness that climate change is already impacting people's health and the measures that can be taken to mitigate it. The General Hospital, the Traumatology, Rehabilitation, and Burn Unit, and the Children's and Women's Hospital have hosted informational panels to alert about the effects that heat and water scarcity, which worsen environmental pollution problems, are already having on people. Throughout the morning, Vall d'Hebron experts have been at the panels to spread awareness about the importance of protecting oneself from the heat among patients, families, and professionals.
