The Neuroradiology Group has primarily focused on developing and implementing novel quantitative imaging biomarkers with the potential to significantly impact the study of specific neurological diseases. Additionally, the Group serves as an MRI analysis platform for various research teams. In 2024, we developed a new quantitative measure for identifying optic nerve lesions relevant to multiple sclerosis (MS) and assessed the value of incorporating the optic nerve into the diagnostic criteria. Furthermore, we evaluated structural brain connectivity in people with MS and the diffuse involvement of the cortico-spinal tract in the disease. In collaboration with TensorMedical, we completed a multicenter European study assessing an automated tool for detecting new MS lesions in brain images. Additionally, in partnership with UCL, we evaluated the use of Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agents in monitoring MS activity and explored the added value of spinal cord MRI in MS monitoring.
